Underpinning the Association's three key objectives - quality of work, employment and health & safety - is the continuing training and education of all users of brick.

The Association strives to promote, encourage and improve technical knowledge and education of persons in – or training to be in – the brickwork contracting industry so as to improve the overall standards of work. Member companies must support the CSCS and be registered with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and fully endorse the Board’s apprenticeship initiative.

Supporting this aim, the Association made its first priority the appointment of a CITB-accredited Group Training Officer. Annually, the Association produces a business and training plan which encompasses the requirement that each Member company undertakes an average of 15 training days per annum.

The Association sees training and education not just as a requirement for new employees but as an on-going requirement to keep employees in touch with the latest developments and, by providing work experience placements for school pupils and teachers - encouraging new entrants into the industry.

Apprenticeships
Once, only way to get a real job was to serve an apprenticeship.

Then – and now! Members recognise the importance in the Modern Foundation and Advanced Apprenticeship schemes in providing the industry with a stream of trained craftsman.
